Nail Post - Fun Monochomatic and Glitter

Hey there! I'm back with another pictorial for you guys. This one is fairly simple and doesn't take much time or supplies. These are monochromatic nails and monochromatic means one colored. I chose black and white, but if you're doing monochromatic, you can choose any color and all of its different shades along with black and white.

Supplies:

  • Base coat
  • White nail polish
  • Black nail polish
  • Black and silver glitter top coat
  • Small dotting tool or toothpick
  • Top coat
  • Small piece of plastic or aluminum foil

To get started, paint all of your nails with 2 coats of white polish. I used Chinaglaze White Out

On your pinkie finger, make a thick stripe down the middle using your black polish. I used Wet N Wild Black Creme. Then on your ring finger, still just using the nail polish brush, paint the bottom corners of the nail so that you make a wide "V" shape. On your thumb, do the opposite design as on your pinkie finger: make a thick black stripe on each outter edge of the nail.
Now with your black polish, put a generous dot onto the piece of foil. Taking the smallest side of your dotting tool, make 4-5 small dots down the center of your ring finger. Once you're finished with that, use the same dotting tool to make irregular "C" shapes and splotches on your middle finger so that it resembles leopard print.

Paint an even coat of the glitter over your entire first finger nail. Add a drop of that topcoat to your piece of foil. Using the smallest dotter you have, pick out the silver glitters and place them in a vertical line down the thick black stripe on your pinkie finger. Use the same method to place silver glitter down each black stripe of your thumb nail.

That's it! Finish with a top coat and let dry!

Thanks for reading, dolls. Come back and see me again!

Nail Post - Fun Fall Color Combos

I know nothing about fashion, trends, or anything of the sort. But I do know a bit about what looks good.
I am so excited that it's fall, and here are a few color combinations that I go to for when the seasons change.

Mint and Chocolate
These colors look great together no matter what the season but look great for fall when light, creamy, and understated. Colors: Julep Otte, Julep Susie

Purple Tones
Purple is always a really great color for fall. These are more transition colors from summer to fall. Colors: Julep Taylor, Julep Renee

Seasonal Shimmer
I love love love shimmer! I have been waiting all year to wear these again! Both polishes have really fine glitter to add a beautiful shimmer. Colors: OPI Germanicure By OPI, Essie Armed & Ready

Hot Metal
You can't have enough metallics in your collection. These two are two of my favorite foreign nail polishes. For some extra flair, add some silver and blue glitter for an extra cool affect. Colors: Herrmann T11, Carla 501, Sally Hansen Ice Queen

That's it for this time, my lovlies. Stay tuned!

Product Review - September 2013 Ipsy Glam Bag

And we're back with another Glam Bag review!
Ya'll know how much I love my Ipsy subscription, but for the second month in a row, I'm a bit disappointed. With all the different products they were offering this month, I'm not sure why so many people got a lot of the same thing, or why I ended up with products that I won't use.

Let's get started!

The theme for this month's bag is classic beauty. The actual makeup bag this month is super cute! I love getting a new bag to put all my stuff in every month. You basically got everything you need to create a look, minus the face products. In my bag, I got a skincare item, lip product, and  and three eye products. Everyone got a little pamphlet from Em Cosmetics with little sample swatches as well.

And here is the lovely blue bag!

Starting with the face, I got three Freeman Beauty Paper masks in Blue AgaveA La Rose, and Star Fruit.
"Transform skin from dry to dewy! Serum-enriched paper facial mask contains soothing Blue Agave to soften and rehydrate. Ultra-hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and Allantoin help give skin a refreshed look and feel for a smoother finish."
I absolutely love skincare products, especially masks! So I am uber excited to use these bad boys!

Eyes come next for me, so I would then apply my shadow.
"Thanks to our high-fashion, high-intensity pigments, our signature pressed shadows pack a punch of color, yet are incredibly easy to blend. Go edgy or understated effortlessly, and enjoy the luscious, long-wearing color from sunrise to sunset... and beyond."
I got the NYX Single Eyeshadow in the shade Hot Crystal. I love eyeshadow and I love shimmer, but not a white shadow. With my skin color, I'm not sure how I would actually use this. So it will be a gift.
[]Pass [x]Buy

My new Starlooks Kohl Eye Pencil in the shade Obsidian.
"Dramatically emphasize your eyes with Starlooks' intensely-pigmented Kohl Eye pencils! These untra-soft liners glide across delicate lids without pulling."
I had gotten one of their lip pencils and it was super smooth, so I am really excited to be getting something else from Starlooks. I'm really glad it's in black, but really any color that's not white works for me.
[]Pass [x]Buy

Lashes come next. We all got the Elizabeth Mott It's So Big Volumizing Mascara.
"A unique formula that lengthens and curls your lashes, without smudging! Maintains mega colume for the whole day, and is easily removed."
I'm a little upset over getting mascara two months in a row, especially when the Pixi mascara was crap, but this one I really like. It doesn't give me much volume, but the color is pretty black and once it dries, it doesn't leave my lashes feeling hard and clumpy. They're pliable and soft, and that is something I can really appreciate.
[]Pass [x]Buy

Lastly come lips. My last product is the Cailyn Cosmetics Tinted Lip Balm in the shade Big Apple.
"Indulge in colors that last and formulas that enrich! Formulated using "3D Smart Film Former", this untra matte, super moisturizing lip balm offers you rich colors with amazing staying power."
I had gotten their gel liner in a previous bad and absolutely loved it! The packaging for the lip balm is the same, and it is adorable. My problem with this is the color. I do not wear red. I wear pink and purple and nude and orange, but not red. This will be a gift as well.

Haul Post - Nails and Tools

Here is another haul post for you guys! There aren't too many things, but I wanna share them with you anyway.

The Goods:

I got two Sinful Colors polishes: Thimbleberry and Midnight Blue.
Thimbleberry is a bright berry pink creme.

And Midnight Blue is a deep blue shimmer.

As for tools, I picked up a few things to apply foundation with since I have liquid foundation now.
I got the essentialtools Foundation Sponge just to see how I liked a traditional flat sponge applicator.

I got the Essence of Beauty Precision Blender Sponge to see how I feel about a beauty sponge. I'm not one to spend money on the expensive name brand version before I test out a similar product.

Lastly, I picked up the e.l.f. Studio Small Stippling Brush. I've really wanted to try out a foundation brush as well, so I just got the good old e.l.f. one.

Well that is everything! Thanks for stopping by!

Haul Post - Face Products!

My first haul post! yay!

I've been spending a good bit on drugstore makeup lately, and here is part 1 of my haul!

The Goods:

First up is the Mineral Wear Talc Free Correcting Primer from Physician's Formula. I'm quite excited about using this. I needed a new primer since my SheerCover Base Perfector is running low and I don't have the funds to buy any more yet. Hopefully this works as well as my SheerCover one. We will see. I'll post a review on all of the products as I use them. I do really love the packaging. The bottle is cute. And it comes with a rainbow applicator? Love it! And it has SPF 15!

I also purchased the raved about L'Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Foundation in the shade 330 Classic Tan. This is my second bottle of liquid foundation, but hopefully since it's supposed to finish like a powder, it'll be a good transition. The packaging is super cute. I love the fade on the bottle. It has SPF 18. I will not purchase a foundation or BB cream without SPF! Gotta protect my skin.

Moving on to cheeks, I bought 2 Milani blushes. The first is my hard earned and long yearned Corallina!!!! I am so glad I finally bought this! It is absolutely gorgeous and works so well as a daytime blusher. It's a beautiful coral-orange color, and like all Milani blushes, has shimmer!

On a whim, I also bought the shade Red Vino. I love the way this looks. I put it on my little sister already, and it looks amazing on really dark skin. Wine just goes well with chocolate.

Speaking of Milani, I bought another of their lippies! I love that they all smell like watermelon. So yummy. This time I got the shade Teddy Bare. It's a pinky-brown nude, and I am totally obsessed with nudes at the moment.

And to finish off the face, I finally bought the e.l.f. Studio Makeup Mist & Set setting spray. I'm still a makeup noob, so whenever I first try out a product, I go for what's good and cheap to see how I like it. I've heard really good things about this spray, so I wanted to see for myself.

That concludes my face products haul! Hope you all enjoyed it, and as always, comment and share for me.

Nail Post - August 2013 Julep Maven Box

I haven't gotten one of these in ages! I seriously think it's been since like May or June!
So I', really excited to be making this post!

For those of you who don't know, Julep is a nail polish subscription box. It's 19.95$/month, I believe, and depending on your style quiz, you are assigned a profile. The different profiles are Bombshell, It Girl, Boho Glam, Classic with a Twist, and Modern Beauty.

I usually get the It Girl box, and that's what I got this month.

It Girl: "You're a colorful trendsetter who's not afraid to be bold."
Fall is here! And these colors are sooo great for fall. Here is my August box:

They redid the packaging on the polishes while I was away, and I love it! It's so sleek and crisp looking. Julep has come a long way in the year I've been subscribed to them.

With the It Girl box, you always get 3 nail colors, whereas with the other boxes except for Modern Beauty, you get 2 colors and a non-nail polish product. The three colors I got where Josephine, Catrina, and Candace.

Josephine is a "deep teal grey creme". It is absolutely gorgeous and I will definitely be wearing this a lot over the fall and winter.

Catrina is a "marigold yellow creme" and it actually looks creamy in texture. The only comparison I have for this color is so a fuzzy yellow microfiber pillow, lol.

And, lastly, is Candace which is a "golden chocolate microglitter" polish. IT'S BEAUTIFULLLLL! Thia is my favorite polish in the box. It is absolutely stunning and totally make you wanna eat it. My new go to shade for fall!

I didn't do much to my nails after swatching to colors; I just added some dots to the ring finger to add a little accent to my nails.

I'm so glad I got this month's box. I actually forgot to skip it this month, because I'm trying to save and only use coupons or deals when I buy new cosmetics and things like that. But this was such a happy oops!

If you want to get in on the Julep Maven action, just click here and take the style quiz. Once you're done, enter the code FREEBOX to get your first box for (you guessed it) free!

Thanks so much for reading my blog. I really do appreciate the love. Please like, comment and subscribe to this blog, as well as my Instagram for more.
